Job Description

As a Legal Counsel, you will use your commercial acumen to provide pragmatic solutions while maintaining a strong legal perspective. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Preparing, assessing, evaluating (risk analysis), and negotiating:
    • Contracts with contractors and architects
    • Purchase, sale, and option agreements
    • Various types of real estate lease agreements (e.g., commercial leases, standard leases), temporary occupation contracts, usufruct agreements, etc.
    • Related acts (e.g., granting servitudes, drafting basic acts, volumes, etc.)
  • Preparing legal opinions on real estate law, civil law, and administrative law (particularly public-private partnerships but also environmental and/or urban planning permits, land, security interests, public procurement, construction, etc.)
  • Managing disputes (drafting settlements or coordinating with lawyers during legal proceedings)
  • Studying and tracking changes in legislation and case law in these areas, in collaboration with team members
  • Preparing templates and standard contracts in these areas, in collaboration with team members.

The Successful Applicant

  • Belgian Master's degree in Law
  • 3 to 8 years of experience in a similar role within real estate law (real estate company, developer, or law firm)
  • Fluent (or near to fluent) in French and Dutch, with a good understanding of English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and proactive learning
  • Attention to detail and precision in legal tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Adaptable, flexible, and able to work effectively under pressure
