We are currently looking for a Operations Manager to manage the night transport activities in Belgium, together with a team of 50 fte's. You stand for a premium service by consistent, disciplined, and most efficient implementation and continuous improvement of operational process standards.

About Our Client

Our client is an international night transport service provider, based in the Zemst region. They have a presence in over 25 countries in Europe including 1500 employees collaborating with more than 2500 logistic subcontractors.

Job Description

The Operations Manager will be:

* Selecting, managing and continuously coaching and developing employees in a goal- and results-oriented manner, including the identification of training needs.
* Ensuring the implementation and consistent application of process standards and forwarding improvement ideas to the LEAN and Quality departments.
* Taking the responsibility for achieving all overarching goals regarding quality, productivity, and cost-effectiveness in the area of responsibility.
* Managing the compliance - adherence to all financial and legal requirements, including social, environmental, occupational safety, and dangerous goods regulations and guidelines (external and internal).
* Preparing and taking the responsibility for the operational budget (costs, productivity, personnel, and damages).
* Preparing and negotiating contracts with service providers and sub-contractors to ensure competitive cost structures while providing superior service.
* Taking active participation in shaping and developing strategic structures (including personnel structure, system partner structure), taking into account the overarching quality, budget, and corporate strategy goals.
* Conducting regular development and feedback meetings with all direct reports, including setting and monitoring target agreements.
* Participating in departmental and cross-functional projects. Representing Operations in commercial discussions with customers and key accounts.
* Acting as back-up for the Group Director Operations in case of absenceIn this role you will be reporting to the Group Director Operations (functional) and the Managing Director Belgium (disciplinary).

This job is considered to be a day job with some flexibility to organize the night activities in a sustainable way.

The Successful Applicant

The Operations Manager we are looking for has/is:

* Relevant degree or comparable qualification with a focus on logistics operations.
* Training/experience in LEAN management or other methods of continuous improvement (desirable).
* Solid track record with relevant professional experience in the transportation & distribution sector.
* Strong business acumen and very good analytical understanding of figures.
* Modern leadership qualities, team player with a hands-on mentality, communicative and open-minded.
* Results-focused with strong delegation skills.
* Promotion of innovation and customer orientation.
* Highly resilient, flexible, and able to deal with change.
* Skilled negotiator with win-win value creation mindset.
* Assertiveness and strong communication skills.
* English, French and Dutch (fluent in speaking and writing).
* Ability to commute to the office (Zemst region).
