As an external Financial Controller, you are responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant financial figures, with a strong focus on Accounting, Tax, VAT, and Statutory Compliance.You actively contribute to the digitalization and optimization of financial processes through automation and BI tools (Power BI & Power Query). You continuously analyze and improve processes and report directly to the Finance Manager.

Job Description

* Financial Closing & Reporting
Coordinate and oversee accurate and timely monthly and year-end closings (BE GAAP & IFRS), with a strong focus on technical accounting accuracy, in collaboration with the Shared Delivery Center.

* Statutory, Tax & VAT Compliance
Responsible for statutory compliance and the coordination of legal reporting, in collaboration with an external service provider. You provide input and monitor quality and deadlines. In addition, you are responsible for preparing and submitting external surveys (including NBB, Statbel).
You have a solid general knowledge of Tax and VAT.

* Audit & Governance
Prepare and coordinate internal and external audits, including building and maintaining a robust audit trail and compliant documentation.

* Coordination of Service Providers
Work closely with internal Shared Delivery Centers and external service providers; you act as the first point of contact, answer questions, and provide subject-matter support.

* Process Optimization & Digitalization
Actively identify and implement improvements in financial processes, focusing on efficiency, standardization, and quality. You also ensure clear and structured documentation of processes and work instructions.

Develop and optimize reporting through BI tools (Power BI, Power Query) and contribute to further automation and digitalization.

The Successful Applicant

  • Master's degree in a financial/economic field (e.g., Business Engineering, Commercial Sciences, Accounting-Fiscality, etc.).
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in financial controlling, accounting, or audit.
  • Solid technical accounting knowledge (BE GAAP and IFRS), complemented by a good basic understanding of Tax & VAT.
  • Strong Excel skills; experience with Power BI and Power Query is a must.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP is a strong plus).
  • Analytical, accurate, and process-oriented, with a focus on quality and structure.
  • Strong ability to work in a structured manner and to document and formalize financial processes and work instructions; you take ownership in this area.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English; German is a plus.
