We are looking for a Systems Engineer Automation (Windows/VMware) to take a leading role in the industrialisation and automation of a large-scale international IT infrastructure. This position focuses on making infrastructure services faster, more scalable and fully automated across a broad system perimeter, including virtualisation, OS, storage and development tooling.

About Our Client

Our client is a major international organisation operating across multiple European hubs, with strong IT teams located between Luxembourg and Switzerland. The infrastructure environment is complex, highly demanding and continuously evolving, with significant investment in automation, CI/CD and infrastructure modernisation.

The IT organisation is split across multiple locations, with senior leadership based in both Geneva and Luxembourg, and close collaboration between teams. The environment is highly transversal, with a strong expectation to accelerate delivery, improve scalability and reduce manual operations through automation.

Job Description

  • Act as the main automation expert across a broad infrastructure perimeter (VMware, OS, storage, and development tooling)
  • Design, develop and implement automation workflows across systems and infrastructure layers
  • Industrialise infrastructure provisioning (e.g. rapid deployment of virtual machines with standardised configurations)
  • Reduce manual intervention through end-to-end automation of system provisioning and operations
  • Integrate automation workflows with ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNow)
  • Contribute to the evolution of CI/CD processes within IT Operations
  • Work closely with infrastructure teams across Luxembourg and Geneva to standardise and streamline operations
  • Support large-scale virtualisation environments and infrastructure optimisation initiatives
  • Ensure security standards and compliance are embedded in automated processes
  • Participate in infrastructure transformation projects and continuous improvement initiatives

The Successful Applicant

  • Strong experience in infrastructure engineering with a focus on automation
  • Solid expertise in virtualisation environments (VMware strongly preferred)
  • Good understanding of Windows/Linux systems, OS and infrastructure components
  • Experience with automation tools and scripting (e.g. PowerShell, Python, or equivalent)
  • Exposure to CI/CD concepts and infrastructure automation frameworks
  • Understanding of ServiceNow or similar ITSM/workflow tools is a plus
  • Ability to work across a broad, non-siloed infrastructure environment
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to "decorticate" complex systems and processes
  • Comfortable working in international, multi-site environments
  • Fluent in English (mandatory) and French (important for local collaboration)
  • Autonomous, pragmatic and solution-oriented profile
