The Luxembourg office has a small, experienced team covering portfolio management, fund operations, risk, compliance and tax. The working environment is collaborative, business-focused and built around close interaction with senior management.

Job Description

The Portfolio Manager Private Equity will have the following responsibilities :

  • Oversee a Private Equity fund-of-funds platform for a major institutional client
  • Coordinate the acquisition, holding, restructuring and disposal of fund investments
  • Review and assess commercial, legal and tax due diligence
  • Coordinate external legal counsel, tax advisors, investment advisors and other service providers
  • Understand and challenge the investment strategy and recommendations prepared by the investment advisor
  • Prepare and document investment processes for review and approval by the relevant governance bodies
  • Review subscription agreements, side letters, limited partnership agreements and other investment documentation
  • Monitor a portfolio of approximately 80 to 100 underlying investments
  • Follow fund developments, including restructurings, closures, transfers and changes to investment structures
  • Coordinate financial information and reporting relating to the investments
  • Maintain a close and professional relationship with a sophisticated institutional client
  • Liaise regularly with colleagues and senior stakeholders in Germany
  • Provide occasional backup support for the Hedge Fund portfolio
  • Support the continued development and oversight of the broader fund platform

The Successful Applicant

The successful Portfolio Manager has the following profile:

  • Several years of experience within an AIFM, investment company or alternative assets environment
  • Strong understanding of Private Equity
  • Good knowledge of the Luxembourg fund industry and its regulatory environment
  • Experience with Luxembourg and international fund structures
  • Ability to understand fund selection, investment strategies and the work performed by investment advisors
  • Experience coordinating legal, tax, commercial and operational due diligence
  • Comfortable reviewing complex fund and investment documentation
  • Basic knowledge of Hedge Funds would be an advantage
  • Sufficient seniority and credibility to interact with institutional clients and experienced investment professionals
  • Structured, detail-oriented and comfortable working independently
  • Strong coordination and communication skills
  • Fluent German and very good English are essential
