Reporting directly to the Belgian CEO and maintaining a dotted-line relationship with the Group General Counsel, you will play a pivotal role as a trusted legal advisor and business partner while actively contributing to the strategic direction of the Belgian leadership team.

Job Description

  • Provide proactive, pragmatic, and business-oriented legal advice across the organization.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide variety of commercial agreements.
  • Advise stakeholders on corporate, commercial, regulatory, compliance, and operational matters.
  • Support legal matters relating to GDPR, competition law, corporate governance, real estate, litigation, procurement, IT, and digital activities.
  • Develop and maintain compliance frameworks, policies, and governance processes.
  • Monitor Belgian and European regulatory developments impacting the business.
  • Partner closely with commercial, HR, supply chain, procurement, and leadership teams.
  • Act as a trusted business partner by translating legal risks into actionable business solutions.
  • Participate in Executive Committee meetings, documenting key decisions, actions, ownership, and timelines.
  • Coordinate with external counsel and international legal teams when required.

The Successful Applicant

  • Belgian Master's degree in Law.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Legal Counsel or Lawyer
  • Strong knowledge of Belgian commercial and contract law.
  • Experience in compliance, GDPR, corporate governance, and risk management is considered a strong asset.
  • Project management experience within a fast-paced B2B environment is advantageous.
  • Fluent in Dutch & French
  • Commercially minded with strong business acumen.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Pragmatic approach to legal issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and emotional intelligence.
