Our client is seeking an experienced Head of Compliance to lead and further strengthen its Compliance function across Belgium and Luxembourg. Following significant growth in recent years and continued investments in Compliance and Internal Controls, the firm is further strengthening its governance structure and regulatory capabilities.

Our client is an independent wealth management firm serving private clients and families across Belgium and Luxembourg. They act as an independent adviser and portfolio manager, ensuring investment decisions are made solely in the best interests of clients.

Functie

As a Head of Compliance your responsibilities are:

  • Lead the Compliance function across Belgium and Luxembourg.
  • Act as the primary Compliance advisor to Executive Management and shareholders.
  • Continue the development and enhancement of the firm's compliance framework, policies and internal controls.
  • Monitor, interpret and implement regulatory developments affecting the business, particularly MiFID II, AML/CFT, GDPR and internal governance requirements.
  • Translate regulatory requirements into practical operational procedures and controls.
  • Oversee Compliance Monitoring activities and ensure effective second line oversight.
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments and provide pragmatic recommendations to business stakeholders.
  • Coordinate relationships with regulators, including the CSSF, and relevant Belgian authorities (FSMA, NBB).
  • Manage regulatory inspections, audits and external compliance reviews.
  • Strengthen the firm's compliance culture through training, guidance and day-to-day support to the business.
  • Act as escalation point for complex compliance matters and regulatory questions.
  • Support management in maintaining a strong governance framework aligned with the firm's continued growth strategy.
  • Contribute to the supervision and development of the existing Compliance team.

Profiel

A successful Head of Compliance should have:

  • Master's degree in Law, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience (at least 8+ years) within Compliance in Wealth Management, Private Banking, Asset Management, Investment Firms or another regulated financial environment.
  • Strong expertise in MiFID II, AML/CFT, internal governance and regulatory implementation.
  • Solid legal and regulatory background with the ability to interpret complex regulations and convert them into practical business processes.
  • Previous experience leading Compliance activities or managing compliance teams.
  • Ability to operate effectively in an entrepreneurial and fast-evolving environment.
  • Pragmatic and business-oriented approach while maintaining regulatory independence.
  • Credibility and maturity to interact with regulators, auditors, management and shareholders.
  • Knowledge of both Belgian and Luxembourg regulatory frameworks is highly desirable.
  • Fluent in French and English.
