Our client, a prestigious international law firm based in Brussels, is looking for an HR and Legal Recruiting Manager to support its local office in close collaboration with international HR and Legal Recruiting teams. This stand-alone role combines lawyer recruitment, onboarding, HR administration, employee relations, and development activities within a demanding and high-performing international environment.

Job Description

Lawyer Recruitment & Development

  • Manage recruitment processes for Legal Interns, Legal Researchers, Traineeships, and lateral hires
  • Coordinate with recruitment agencies and academic institutions, including the College of Europe
  • Organise and attend university career fairs and recruitment events
  • Coordinate interviews, including logistics, MS Teams scheduling, meeting rooms, reminders, and feedback collection
  • Prepare employment offers and obtain internal approvals
  • Maintain recruitment databases, trackers, and reporting tools
  • Liaise with Brussels bar associations regarding lawyer admissions
  • Coordinate pre-employment checks including conflicts, background screening, and relocation support
  • Manage onboarding and induction processes in collaboration with London teams
  • Deliver onboarding and welcome sessions for new joiners
  • Support lawyer training, development, performance reviews, and mid-year review processes
  • Coordinate immigration matters with external legal counsel
  • Maintain knowledge of the Belgian legal recruitment market



Offboarding

  • Manage employee departure processes and offboarding checklists
  • Coordinate with HR Operations to ensure proper system and administrative closure



Employee Relations

  • Support Directors and senior stakeholders in handling employee relations matters
  • Provide guidance on HR policies and their application



HR Administration

  • Prepare orientation schedules and onboarding documentation
  • Maintain personnel files and HR records
  • Draft ad hoc HR correspondence and employment references
  • Support senior HR and Administration leadership with administrative tasks
  • Assist on HR-related projects and training coordination

The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Recruitment and/or HR within Belgium
  • Experience within a law firm or professional services environment is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong knowledge of HR administration and recruitment processes
  • Comfortable working in a stand-alone role with autonomy and accountability
  • Ability to manage confidential matters with discretion and professionalism
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills
  • Calm under pressure and able to operate in a demanding environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Hands-on, proactive, and customer-oriented mindset
  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate internationally
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and HR systems
  • Fluent English is mandatory
  • French and/or Dutch are considered strong assets
