About Our Client

Our client is one of the largest bank and most stable in Europe. It operates in 59 countries and has a customer base in no less than 150 countries. Overall, this bank has 21 million customers through its three main activities: Corporate Bank, Investment Bank and Private Bank.

They are looking for a Senior Functional Analyst in the banking and client journey domain. In this domain they focus on risks engine for transactional channels for their branches and customers.

Job Description

The Senior Functional Analyst is responsible for

  • Understanding vision of the product and ensures development activities reflect that vision into the product. (Outlines business value of each requirement together with Business Analyst and/or Product Owner and continuously engages with engineering to ensure development is aligned to what is required.)
  • Eliciting and managing functional requirements in partnership and collaboration with the Business Analyst and/or Product Owner, Architecture, and Delivery Leads, working in an agile and iterative manner to build out appropriate solutions.
  • Supporting the testing requirements together with the QA testing Team.
  • Supporting the design and conceptualization of new business solution options and articulates identified impacts and risks.
  • Supporting Product Owner and/or Business Analyst on the prioritization of change requests



The Senior Functional analyst liaises and collaborates with :

  • Liaises with Domain Leads, Product Owners, Business Analyst, and technical community (architects, developers etc.) for solution identification.
  • Works in a collaborative and agile manner to document user stories and refine (eg add acceptance criteria).
  • Liaises with development teams to prioritize and deliver against the requirements.
  • Works with engineers to prioritize, trouble shoot and resolve reported bugs / issues / stories on applications.



The Senior Functional analyst also

  • Embraces Scrum practices and principles, participates in continuous improvements of the team delivery.
  • Provides domain and functional expertise as required.
  • Drives data discovery, sourcing, modelling and analytics to support the creation of data flows and models. This includes researching and profiling data sources in data categories of expertise.
  • Evaluates dependences, interfaces and specifies inputs and formatting outputs to meet the business' responsible for defining non-functional requirement.

The Successful Applicant

  • Degree in Business, Economics or Computer Science.
  • Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in Functional Analysis roles (experience in the banking environment is a plus).
  • Dutch or French mother tongue, Fluent in English.
  • High analytical and technical capabilities.
  • Flexible, curious and eager to learn.
  • Team player, collaborative in combination with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Architecturally minded with an ability to simplify complex activities.
  • Ability to identify and translate stakeholders needs and requirements and put them into practice.
  • An organized self-starter able to manage a complex environment.
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural and virtual teams in a matrix/global organizations.
  • Experience working closely with Product Owners and Stakeholders in an Agile framework
  • Experience in conceptualization and solution definition
  • Technical experience/environment



o MUST

  • UML / BPMN design.
  • Use of Jira, Confluence, Enterprise Architect, Application Lifecycle Management.
  • Relational databases & SQL knowledge.
  • HTML5/CSS3, mock-ups creation.
  • Java environment.
  • SOA / REST and API concepts knowledge.



o PLUS

  • Good all-round knowledge/experience of interactive applications, batch applications, webservices, middleware.
  • Knowledge of / experience with software logging- and monitoring principles.
  • Cloud computing knowledge.
  • Experience designing ETL processes.
